• Do you know your FIFO from your FILO?
  • If I called your pallet ugly, would you get upset?
  • What do you mean by a standard pallet?

Whether you're a 3PL (that's "third party logistics"!), an experienced warehouse owner or a business that's wholly new to the world of pallet storage, we appreciate that the terminology we use on the site won't always mean the same thing (or perhaps anything at all) to everyone involved.

So it makes perfect sense for us to clarify what we mean - not just for those new to the industry who need a translator for all the jargon but also for those who have experience in the supply chain world who might use different phrases from each other to say the same thing.

With that in mind, we've uploaded a Zupplychain glossary to help explain logistics terms we use regularly. We've focused on the terms that we think aren't well recognized outside the industry as well as those that seem to cause confusion within it due to crossed wires. Consider it our attempt to make sure we're all speaking the same language!

The glossary is situated right in the navigation bar at the top of the website so it's accessible wherever and whenever you're working with us and we hope it's well-directed, informative, and even a little amusing in places!

However, we don't expect to have all the answers and, as such, we're really keen to get you all involved with the resource.

If there's a definition you're not happy with or think needs a bit more added to it; or if you want us to tackle a whole different phrase or subject, please email us - indeed, if you want to rant at length about some confusion or other that you wish could be ironed out of the system, let us know and we'll be happy to give you the platform: the Zupplychain community welcomes your voice (as long as you play nicely!).
